Problem

You initially try to log into Pulsar, and see the error in the log file: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host.

Solution

This error means Pulsar could not connect to Salesforce and the network layer is failing to resolve the hostname. This usually means you are connecting to a network with strict security policies for outside connections.

There are a few steps to take to resolve this issue:

  1. Make sure you are online. You must be online to connect to Salesforce.

  2. It is possible that the name servers are down. This happens occasionally but not a very common occurrence.

  3. WINDOWS ONLY - There may be an issue with the settings on your laptop. The security settings on your laptop may restrict a connection to Salesforce. Check your security settings and make sure you are allowed to connect to Salesforce. You may need to disable your firewall (Windows Firewall or your anti-virus software’s firewall) and see if you can log in. If that works, you need to whitelist Salesforce in your firewall. Or you may need to contact your IT team to help you with this.

  4. Even if you are able to connect to Salesforce using a browser, there may be restrictions on apps specifically. Your IT team will know how to adjust these permissions.
