Pulsar and Dark Mode
Does Pulsar support dark mode?
Yes. Pulsar version 17.0 and later uses the dark mode setting from the device. When the device switches between light and dark mode, Pulsar follows that preference after login.
What is dark mode?
Dark mode switches the screen to darker colors with light-colored text. Many people use it to reduce glare in low-light environments or make the screen more comfortable to read.
How does dark mode work on different devices?
iOS: Users select Light, Dark, or Automatic in system settings. Apps follow the system's choice unless the user overrides it.
Android: The system theme controls whether apps show light or dark colors. Users switch the theme manually or set it to follow sunrise and sunset.
Windows: Users select Light or Dark in system settings. Apps that support dark mode adjust their appearance to match the chosen mode.
Can I override the device setting in Pulsar?
Yes. Pulsar provides a setting, pulsar.ignoreDarkTheme. When enabled (Value = TRUE), Pulsar will ignore the device's dark mode setting and continue using light mode.
Here are the setting details:
Name: Ignore Device Dark Mode/Theme
Key: pulsar.ignoreDarkTheme
Value: TRUE or FALSE (default)
Note that on initial login to Pulsar, the login screen will not reflect the ignored dark mode setting. Settings are not applied until after the user has logged in.
How does dark mode work on shared or multi-user devices?
Pulsar applies a user's load dark mode preferences after login. Prior to login, Pulsar uses the dark mode preference from the last user who used the device. As a result, the login screen may look different than expected on shared devices before login
