How do I distribute the Pulsar app to my users?

How do I distribute the Pulsar app to my users?

There are three methods to distribute the Pulsar app to your users.

Method 1 - App store

Have your users download the app from the app store. Refer to App Installation Process for more information about downloading the app on each platform.

Method 2 - Mobile Device Management (MDM)

You can use mobile device management (MDM) software to download the app to your users' devices.

MDM is the combination of software, processes, and policies used to manage and protect an organization’s data on mobile devices. IT departments use MDM to deploy and manage mobile devices using inventory control and tracking. They also use MDM to manage security settings and enforce organizational policies to protect the applications, data, and content on the mobile device. Examples include providing device troubleshooting, remotely locking devices, enforcing password requirements, and requiring logins at regular intervals for VPNs and enterprise applications. Other examples include sending security updates, wiping device data in the case of theft or loss of the device, or disabling device features like cameras and microphones. Finally, IT departments use MDM to remotely install or remove applications from mobile devices or manage access to the mobile device app stores. MDM is used to limit access to mobile device app stores to control which applications can be installed by end users.

Access to the Pulsar app can be controlled using these methods. Users can have limited access to the app store and receive instructions to download Pulsar within the constraints of the MDM policies. Access management policies, such as SSO, can be used with Pulsar.

Method 3 - Business Store Distribution

With Business store distribution, you can distribute your app using one of the platform-specific stores. In this case, you set up an account with each platform and create a private app store for your users. You control access to the apps in the store, and in some cases, you can also manage your mobile devices.

Typically, the IT department of your organization sets up business store distribution. If you need Luminix assistance with setting up business store distribution, please contact our sales team for pricing information at sales@luminixinc.com.

Apple Store Distribution

For Apple devices, your app can be in the Apple App Store. Apple Business Manager is a mobile application manager (MAM) which allows you to specify the users who can access your app. Using this option, you can restrict your app to specific businesses or use redemption codes for certain users. For more information about these options, visit https://developer.apple.com/business/distribute/..

Android Play Store Distribution

For Android devices, your app can be in the Play Store. Using Android for Enterprise, you can create a custom store, specify the settings for your app, and use single sign-on (SSO). Android for Enterprise provides mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). You can optimize your app to only run on managed devices. For more information, refer to https://developer.android.com/work.

Microsoft Store Distribution

For Windows devices, use Microsoft Intune to distribute your app. Microsoft Intune provides mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). You determine how devices are used, which apps can be installed, and how those apps are used on the devices. Additionally, you can allow your users to use their personal devices while protecting and isolating your organization's data. For more information about Microsoft Intune, visit https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/what-is-intune. To add Pulsar to Intune, follow the steps in this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/store-apps-microsoft.
